Community volunteers are the heart of the Food Pantry: it could not function without considerable support from the four communities it serves. Volunteers shop for food, maintain the facility, move freight, bag produce and most visibly, work at the Food Pantry on Fridays when it is open for clients to pick up food. In 2016 our volunteers donated over 3,600 man hours. That's a lot of community support!
The Upper Susitna Food Pantry allocates the majority of received funding toward food purchase and transportation costs. In 2016, we purchased and transported over 190,000 pounds of food.
It take our whole Alaskan community to keep our pantry up and running. Thanks to all of our supporters for believing in the work we do and supporting us as we work to improve the lives of families in our communities.
What a wonderful event! We are so grateful to Sharla, Tim, Carly Rose and the wonderful volunteers who work so hard to make our annual fashion show fundraiser such a success. Started in 2016 by the owners of the Susitna River Trading Company as a way to give back to the community this event provides a fun evening out and provides much needed support to two non profit organizations in our community.
