What We Are
The Upper Susitna Food Pantry (aka 'USFP', 'the Pantry') is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization recognized by the Food Bank of Alaska as the sole provider of  supplemental food in the Upper Northern Susitna Valley. 
Our mission is to provide people who reside in the Sunshine, Talkeetna,  Chase, Trapper Creek and Upper Caswell Lakes areas (approximately 900 square miles) with needed supplemental food supplies that help to alleviate food insufficiency.
USFP is committed to expanding and improving our services to meet our communities needs through collaboration with federal and state agencies, other non-profit organizations and businesses in our Alaskan community.

Our area is populated by approximately 2500 people and during 2017 we served approximately 1/3 of our area population. Our clients include seniors, veterans, families and individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Supplemental food is available to clients once a month with additional boxes provided at Thanksgiving and Christmas.




Volunteers are the heart of the Food Pantry-we could not function without them. From cleaning and bagging produce to unloading trucks and stocking shelves our volunteers work hard to keep our doors open each week. In 2017 community members donated over 4,000 hours.  That's a lot of commitment!



Upper Susitna Food Pantry is a grant and donation funded organization; it could not function without considerable support from the four communities it serves. We receive donations of cash, food and equipment from six churches, the Talkeetna Bachelors Society,  the VFW, our Community Councils and many other local businesses and individuals. The Sunshine Community Health Center provides the space and subsidizes the rent and utilities. The Sunshine Transit provides free transportation to children for our summer programs. It take all of us working together to meet the needs of the families we serve and working together we will wipe out hunger throughout our communities!
